Rush Gets Early Endorsement From Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. Chicago (Nov. 30, 1998) – Mayoral candidate Bobby Rush today welcomed the early endorsement of Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., who this weekend, told the Chicago Defender that Rush’s candidacy will raise public interest in the mayoral race and increase voter registration. "I am pleased and proud to have the support of Rev. Jackson," said Rush. "We have shared a long friendship over the years and I know that he is a man of uncompromising principal and integrity." Rush announced his candidacy last week. Since then, in addition to support from Rev. Jackson, Rush also picked up the endorsement of 16th Ward Alderman Shirley Coleman and expects to announce support from other city aldermen in the near future. ### |
