Mr. Rogers is a Clinical Professor of
Finance and Management at the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management --
Northwestern University and has taught Entrepreneurial Finance at Kellogg since
1993. He has also been an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Ewing Marion Kauffman
Foundation since 1994.
Mr. Rogers joined Kellogg as a
full-time faculty member in 1995 and has been named to the Faculty Honor Roll
(top 25%) every quarter he has taught. Mr. Rogers was one of the top five
professors considered for the 1995 Kellogg Outstanding Professor of the Year
Award and in 1996, was named the Lawrence G. Lavengood Outstanding Professor of
the Year for the Masters of Management (full-time) and The Managers Program
(part-time).
He also was named the Outstanding
Professor of the Year in June and December 1997 and 1998, Executive Management
Programs. In 1996, Business Week named Mr. Rogers one of the top 12
entrepreneurship professors at graduate business schools in the U.S. and, in
1997, Business Week (featured on cover of October 27 issue) named him one of 14
"New Stars of Finance."
Mr. Rogers has also taught in other
Kellogg programs including the AMA Physician Entrepreneurship Workshop, the
Executive Management Program, the LEAD Program, the Alumni Saturday Seminar
Series, Alumni Business Roundtables, G-I-M Program in Poland, Executive Business
Education Seminars in Hong Kong and the National Minority Supplier Development
Council’s Advanced Management Education Program. He is also the Director of
Kellogg’s Entrepreneur Internship Program and a member of Northwestern
University's Professional Sports Counseling Panel.
Prior to joining the Kellogg Faculty,
Mr. Rogers owned and operated two manufacturing firms, Fenchel and Champion
Lampshade Companies, and one retail operation, Richard's Lighthouse. He
purchased the three companies at different times over a seven-year period. He
sold the companies in 1995.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Mr.
Rogers worked at Bain and Company Consulting Firm, Consolidated Diesel Company,
Cummins Engine Company and UNC Ventures, a venture capital firm.
Mr. Rogers serves on the Board of
Directors of SC Johnson Wax, SuperValu (NYSE), 21st Century Urban Schools, and
Illinois' Initiative for Entrepreneurship. Mr. Rogers currently serves on the
Advisory Boards of venture capital firms Evanston Business Investment
Corporation and the Ryan Enterprises Group. Mr. Rogers has also served as a
judge for Arthur Andersen’s Best Practices Awards.
Mr. Rogers earned his B.A. in History
from Williams College in 1979 and his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in
1985.
