Your views and concerns are
evident as I walk Grayslake neighborhoods, visit with you door-to-door, and sit down with
many of you for a cup of coffee in your living room.
You've told me that these are the major issues we in Grayslake face today. I'd like to
hear more of your views - please share them with me by entering them on this page!
Traffic
One View: The proposed Route 53 extension is the answer to congested
traffic.
Another View: Explore alternatives to building the Route 53 extension.
Your View:
The Landfill
One View: Odor and garbage placement violations should be monitored by
an independent, non-governmental group.
Another View: Odor and garbage placement violations should be
monitored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Lake County Department of
Health.
Your View:
Future Growth
One View: Most of Grayslakes growth phase is over. There is
little room for more development.
Another View: Projected population growth for Grayslake (from 7,388 in
1990 to 24,295 in 2020--an increase of 229%) will negatively impact schools, taxes,
transportation and other quality of life factors. We need a clear vision of our future
along with a strategic plan to get us there.
Your View:
Schools
One View: Growth brings increased demand for Grayslake school system
resources yet our school system is already overburdened.
Another View: Impact fees charged to developers are sufficient to
cover any new demands placed on school system resources.
Your View:
Attracting Business & Industry to Generate Revenue
One View: Recruit manufacturers who can make Grayslake their company
home. This will help generate funds for infrastructure (e.g. schools) thereby keeping a
lid on your tax bill.
Another View: Competition in attracting business and industry to our
Village is tough. Taxes must suffice as a major revenue source.
